DESCRIPTION:Probably the biggest day of the year in the Killearn social calendar\, Saturday 1st June see’s locals and a wave of visitors come together in Killearn. Firstly for the 10k race then afterwards the Killearn Beer Festival takes centre stage! \nHere at the Old Mill Killearn we are delighted once again to be the host venue of the Killearn Beer Festival 🙂 \nRUNNING ORDER\n10 am Killearn 10K\nNoon Burger and a pint for a tenner for 10K runners\n1 pm Beer Festival Starts – £6 entry to the Beer Tent gives you a glass and a program and all beers are £4 a pint. The is NO ENTRY FEE to the garden and pub.\n2 pm Live music kicks off – acts confirmed so far include Catherine Ward\, Daniel Fairclough\, Mark Curtis\, Oldplay\, Platform C\, The Lebowski's and Southside Texas Tribute!\n9 pm Live music finishes\n10 pm Garden closes\nMidnight Bar closes \nWe will have two bars open at The Old Mill as well as the Beer Festival tent. We have plenty of card machines but on the off chance we experience technical difficulties (as happened for a heart-stopping 20 minutes last year) please bring cash. \nWe also have a new plan in place to try and ensure speedy service at the Cafe bar. \nWe will be serving food from the garden in takeaway boxes to collect from our outdoor stand. If you would like a table service meal\, please book a table in the restaurant or yurt. \nThe weather is looking LOVELY so we will probably end up with a queue down Balfron Road between 3pm – 5pm. To avoid spending half your day on the streets of Killearn we recommend getting here early for beer or later for the bands. \nINFORMATION FOR BEER FESTIVAL GOERS\nThe Car park will close at 4pm on Thursday afternoon for set up on Friday so please make sure you do not leave your car here. Ideally\, don’t bring a car on the day! There is very limited parking in the village and it would be great to leave space in the village for those who need a car to get around.

DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to welcome Bosse Dahlgren and Wendy Barrie to The Old Mill for an afternoon of conversation and cheese tasting on Saturday 22nd April 2023 from 3pm – 5pm.\n\nBosse is a regenerative farmer and horse logger. A lifelong campaigner for biodiversity\, he works with rare breed living gene banks. Born in Trollhättan\, Sweden nature\, old breeds\, heritage farming and animal welfare always fascinated him\, in particular how this knowledge can be applied to sustainable food production.\n\nWendy is a cook\, campaigner and food writer. She is Creator and Director of the independent award-winning Scottish Food Guide www.scottishfoodguide.scot and Scottish Cheese Trail www.scottishcheesetrail.com . Dedicated to biodiversity and food heritage\, Wendy leads the Slow Food Ark of Taste in Scotland and is a member of the SF Cooks Alliance.\n\nThis promises to be a lively\, fascinating\, and informative event and if you are interested in self sufficiency\, regenerative food production\, Scottish cheese or you are keen to learn about any of these topics this is the perfect place to be.\n\nTickets are £10 and as well as our speakers there will be cheese and accompaniments plus refreshments.
